Kieran Alder, Associate Director.

How did you start out at Ventro?

I started out on my journey about four years ago, where I joined the organisation as a fire safety consultant. Previously I worked as an account manager in banking, working across business banking, personal banking and also the commercial lending side and wanted to move into an industry where I felt like I had job security and also an area to grow not only within my own career but also help a business that's also growing get more established.

How did you progress where you are today?

So I started as a fire safety consultant and then after about 12 months I got the opportunity to progress and become a senior fire safety consultant, looking after some of the larger accounts, understanding where we've got repeat spends and seeing where the opportunity was to cross sell and offer more of our services to some of our most valued clients.

After about two and a half years I got the opportunity to become a team leader, looking after a team of fire safety consultants where we would cover our bulk patch which was the south east of England and London, moving into the role I'm in today, I was able to move up to an associate director where I support not only the area of customers but also helping in regards to the larger strategic business plans as we develop as a company.

What are you most proud of in your journey?

I would say probably the greatest achievement so far would be the area that I took on which was the south east of England. The growth in that area has had direct impact into the overall growth of the company. And being able to reach out to more clients across the sector. I would say the people. I enjoy the people I work with. I've established a lot of great working relationships, not only with staff that I work day-to-day with, but also the customers I interact with as well.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

No two days are the same. You're always out seeing different types of customers and problem-solving around their fire safety priorities, so where you've got more of a complex fire safety solution that needs to be addressed, working with the customer and your team to be able to achieve that.

That's something I really enjoy. The work we do is actually benefiting the end-user, so the residents, we're making their homes a safer place to live, and I feel like we are giving back to the community.

Why would you recommend Ventro?

I would recommend Ventro for a number of reasons, one of them being they are a great company to work for. Although we are a fairly large SMA, we still have that personal touch within the business. So still being able to have that day-to-day interaction with the sort of top guys I find really, really like endearing. The other aspect I'd say is the industry that we cover is quite a a difficult industry to cover, but the support that you get with working within the different aspects and in the areas of the company go a long way.
