Ventro Win Service Business of the Year at the Startup Awards 2017

December 14, 2017 by in Uncategorized

Ventro has been announced as this year’s winner for ‘Service Business of the Year’ at the Startups Awards 2017 which took place at the Royal Garden Hotel in London November 30th.

Established in 2004 by Startups.co.uk, the Startups Awards is the UK’s longest-running awards to celebrate and champion the country’s most exciting, innovative and game-changing new businesses launched in the last four years.

Judges of the awards include beauty entrepreneur Liz Earle MBE, Dragon’s Den investor Touker Suleyman and Paul Lindley, founder of Ella’s Kitchen.

The Startups Awards has an industry-wide reputation for discovering and identifying start-ups that will evolve to become huge brands, market leaders, and, often, household names.

Ventro were amongst some worthy competition, so to come away with another award win this year (Ventro were also winners of Plymouth Herald’s ‘Young Business of the Year’), was a fantastic achievement by everyone involved in getting the company to where they are today.

From conducting initial surveys of buildings through to installation and maintenance works to put any defects right, Ventro’s 360 offering has seen it become the trusted fire safety specialist for the NHS and the Ministry of Defence.

Demand for its services has been so high that, in the space of three years, Young Gun founders Harvey and Ross Melvin have scaled headcount to 30 and moved their operations from a portacabin to new, fully-refurbished 6,500 sq. ft. headquarters in Plymouth, alongside regional offices in London, Warrington, and Nottingham.

With no outward investment, Ventro has already proven itself to be a sustainable business and revenues are rising at a rapid pace as clients benefit from the accredited fire safety protection it provides.

Ian Wallis, Editorial Director for Startups.co.uk:

“Funded or not, big or smaller, London-based or not, there seems no end to the deep well of brilliantly innovative, determined, and passionate entrepreneurs in the UK. We’re in awe of what our finalists and entrants have achieved.”

Past Startups Awards winners include Glasses Direct, The Cambridge Satchel Company, Naked Wines, Appear Here, Home Instead Senior Care, Notonthehighstreet.com, PROPERCORN, Purple Bricks and Onfido, to name but a few.

Joanna Hill, Chief Executive Officer for headline sponsor Startup Loans Company comments:

“We are delighted to be the headline sponsor of this year’s Startups Awards. All of the businesses shortlisted this year demonstrate the enormous potential of how a lightbulb moment can evolve into a business that generates economic growth, changes lives, and importantly, provides a much-needed service or solution.”

Harvey Melvin, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Ventro added:

“We are delighted to be the headline sponsor of this year’s Startups Awards. All of the businesses shortlisted this year demonstrate the enormous potential of how a lightbulb moment can evolve into a business that generates economic growth, changes lives, and importantly, provides a much-needed service or solution.”
