Fire Stopping

Fire stopping is another key component of your passive fire protection.

The National Fire Protection Association’s report states that unprotected vertical and horizontal penetrations is a major contributing cause for rapid, erratic spreading of smoke and fire. These openings allow smoke to spread beyond the room in question and into occupied floors.

Fire safety isn’t something you should compromise as you’re normally playing with human life – even if finances are tight. If a fire takes place and your building isn’t compliant the penalty fee is a lot higher.

There are two types of active fire stopping we provide: Active and Passive.

Active Fire Stopping

helps to slow the fire down and includes the following:

  • Fire Emergency Signs
  • Emergency Lighting
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • Sprinklers

Passive Fire Protection

is about the types of materials used in the installation process and is key in helping to preventing fires from spreading or slowing down the burning process. These are:

  • Fire Compartment Walls
  • Fire Doors
  • Access Hatches
  • Fire Pillows
  • Fire Curtains etc

  • Play a crucial role in fire safety and prevents fires in your building or property from spreading
  • Extra time to evacuate the building
  • Compliant and meets UK standards for fire safety
  • In October 2005 the ‘Fire Safety Law’ stated its now the owner’s responsibility to ensure that you maintain your fire safety systems. Fire stopping is one area of this legislation that needs constant review.

We work directly with your organisation to ensure your building passes the required legislation, while meeting UK standards. The team you will work with is highly qualified with a wealth of experience. A full list of our accreditation’s can be found here.
