Johnny Mercer Cuts Ribbon to New Ventro Office

September 18, 2017 by in Uncategorized

Plymouth MP Johnny Mercer visited Ventro, winners of this year’s Plymouth Herald Business Awards, to help open the doors to their new office in Estover. The expansion has already started to boost local investment and is set to increase job prospects for young people in the area through their Apprenticeship Scheme.

On Monday 18th September 2017, Passive Fire Safety Specialists Ventro moved into their new office location based in Estover. The move will provide Ventro the opportunity to increase training and development to local businesses in the area by offering advice on passive fire safety and will comfortably accommodate their expanding team.

The company is a multi-million-pound organisation that provides passive fire safety services to clients around the UK and has provided funds for the new office re-design. Ventro has enlisted the help of local contractors and companies in the South West as part of the office re-design which has allowed them to reinvest the funds back into the city.

So much change is such little time

In less than one year, Ventro’s staff team has increased from 17 people to 30 full-time and part-time employees. The office expansion will support this increase in workforce and has already supported the re-launch of their Apprenticeship Scheme which was launched last year.

The Apprentice Scheme was launched in partnership with Skills Group, a Plymouth based company with over 20 years’ experience in helping young people kick-start their careers. The scheme has already helped Jake Eames, an 18-year old from Plymouth, gain full-time employment through the successful completion of his apprenticeship.

Jake Eames quoted:

“My apprenticeship at Ventro has really helped illustrate my strengths and has helped direct my career. Since completing my apprenticeship, I have now moved into the cladding and surveying side of work as a Healthcheck Manager. I really enjoy the challenges and demands of the role and Ventro really support me in training and development.”

The business expansion has led to an increase in office space and funding to help keep the scheme going and has allowed Ventro to hire a second apprentice from the Plymouth area.

Plymouth Moor View MP joined the Ventro team to officially open their new offices. Speaking at the event, Mr Mercer said:

‘It is great to welcome yet more business expansion in Plymouth and to see my constituency become home to this growing local company. Each new job and each new apprenticeship started all contribute to Plymouth’s growth and increasing productivity and I look forward to seeing the impact Ventro have to the business community in the city.’

Harvey, Managing Director of Ventro said:

It is fantastic to be in a position where we can take on more employees and provide young people with the opportunity to gain valuable business experience with potential career opportunities.” Harvey added: “Without the new expansion, these opportunities would not be possible.”

Ventro looks forward to a long future in Plymouth and the opening of the new head office in Estover shows that they are here to stay.
