Rykneld Homes - Passive Fire Prevention

Case study
Situation
Ventro and Rykneld engaged in initial consulting from November 17 to May 18, during which the client's requirement for fire door installation was the primary focus. Ventro recommended the EEM53 Framework as an appropriate procurement method. The project was then put out for a mini-tender through the EEM framework to ensure the best value for the client
Solution
The social housing client had 12 buildings in 5 different locations that needed FD30 door installation, as well as associated tasks such as installing fire-rated intumescent mastic. As part of this project Ventro had to work within the existing ironmongery specifications. Surveys, FRA's, and Passive fire Healthchecks had already been completed before the work began, and Ventro was provided with the results which were stored in an online portal. The portal was frequently updated with current program information to keep the client informed.

Procurement
The project was put out to a mini-tender through the EEM Framework, to prove the best value for money for the client. Ventro saw this process though and won the mini-tender.
Compliance
The social housing client had 12 blocks across 5 locations which required FD30 door installation with associated works, including fire-rated intumescent mastic. Ventro had to adapt to existing ironmongery specifications.
Golden Thread
Ventro used its online portal for sharing completion information for every item of remedial work completed. Each item of work had four photographs, a before photo showing the issue highlighted by the asset tag, an overall photo of the issue in question, then a photo of the issue fixed, followed by the final photo which shows a certificate of completed works.
Residents
The project was fulfilled to the client's expectations, and this was reflected in the feedback received from them and their residents. Extra to the scope of the contract was the Community Benefit in our continued close support of a charity called the Rapid Relief Team.
"Everyone thought the progress meeting went very well today, the site set up is perfect, the way in which Mark asked everyone to sign in/out is a rarity with some contractors and is most welcome."- Steve Williams, Contract Manager at Rykneld Homes.
The Impact:
"I have lived at Pankhurst Place for 15 years now. This work has been brilliant, I have no qualms to make. The workmen have been very well-mannered and got on with the work. They make sure everyone is secure before the leave at night. They have been absolutely lovely. I think it's very good that Rykneld Homes have upgraded these doors. They will be more secure, and it makes the building look nicer."
